“Half a loaf is still bread. But half a truth is not the truth.”
This is indeed true. What is frightening is not failing to understand the truth, but knowing only half the truth and believing it is the whole truth.
In some religious teachings, certain ideas are preached based on subjective human judgment, leaving some truths as only “half-truths.” This is also the source of misunderstanding, delusion, and superstition: people do not understand the complete whole, only “half.” From there, it is easy to become extreme and devoted to one “faction” or “side”…
Letting go is also something many people misunderstand. What does letting go mean? What if we have not achieved anything through effort, striving, and improvement, yet use the name of letting go to escape reality, life, and our problems? Is that letting go?
